This free festival celebrates real food--sustainably and fairly grown, and free of genetic modification. The Fair will feature live music, speakers, organic and regionally-produced foods from local businesses (including free samples), cooking demonstrations, and a farmers’ market. Panel discussion topics will include Food Integrity in Our Local Systems, Social Responsibility: Pathways to Community Well Being, and Community Gardens Responding to Community Needs. A keynote address by Tezozomoc, community garden advocate and National Defense Council’s Growing Green Food Justice Leader of 2013, will highlight the event.
See http://ggfood.org/schedule/ for a full schedule of events.
The Greater Good Food Fair is a project of Label GMOs SF, a group of individuals committed to a more just and sustainable food system. Label GMOs SF formed in 2011 to help with the state-wide Prop 37 efforts to label genetically engineered foods, and have since broadened our perspective to include other issues related to food justice and sustainability. Major sponsors included Vital Systems, Rainbow Grocery, Slow Food San Francisco, Bi-Rite.
