Documentary showing: "The World According to Monsanto" plus bonus food analyst lecture connecting the dots
Documentary showing: "The World According to Monsanto" (110 minutes) in acknowledgement of upcoming "March Against Monsanto" that will occur on October 12 at 1pm at Balboa Park Fountain.
"The World According to Monsanto" is a film by Marie-Monique Robin. It exposes Monsanto's controversial past pushing of some of the most toxic products ever sold combined with misleading reports, pressure tactics, collusion, and attempted corruption. Monsanto now races to genetically engineer (and patent) the world's food supply, which profoundly threatens our health, environment, and economy. Combining exposing of secret documents with first-hand accounts by victims, scientists, and politicians, this widely praised film exposes why Monsanto has become the world's poster child for malignant corporate influence."
Bonus documentary: Robyn O'Brien lecture at TEDxAustin 2011 (19 minutes).
Robyn shares her personal story as a food analyst who was initially more interested in food as good business than good-for-you, but then was shaken awake by the dangerous allergic reaction of one of her children to a "typical" breakfast. Her talk shows data collected from USDA, American Cancer Society, and other organizations showing the correlations between genetically engineered foods and increases in allergies, cancer, etc.
